Vessels Exiting Superiorly

The pulmonary trunk exits the right ventricle and courses posteriorly and superiorly before bifurcating into the left and right pulmonary arteries, while the aorta exits the left ventricle and initially courses superiorly as the ascending aorta before arching posteriorly and to the left as the aortic arch, establishing the arterial outflow relationships at the superior aspect of the heart.
