Work Item Readiness is the condition in which a specific unit of work has been sufficiently clarified, sized, and freed of blocking unknowns that it can be pulled directly into active status and started without delay, serving as the entry standard that governs movement from a queued or backlog state into the flowing part of the system. In flow-based planning, readiness functions as the individual-item counterpart to the batch-level definition of ready used in iteration planning, but applied continuously to each item as it approaches the front of the queue rather than validated once for an entire committed set.
