Meeting and Coordination Overhead is the portion of a team's total working time consumed by activities that support collaboration and alignment rather than directly producing shippable increments of work, including Agile ceremonies, cross-team synchronization sessions, status reporting, and ad hoc coordination conversations. Although necessary for a team to function cohesively, this overhead reduces the hours remaining for actual development, testing, and delivery, and must be subtracted from nominal capacity to produce a realistic sprint commitment.
